Nylon set cost trade-off
A full set of nylon rollers, quieter and usually what we recommend for an attached garage, costs more per roller but less in bearing noise complaints down the line.
Kuna, Meridian
Kuna's garages run newer than most of the area, built around 2007. That changes which rollers wear out first and how we replace them. Service from Meridian, 6 miles out.

Pricing
We don't post a flat number here because roller jobs split two ways and the split matters for cost. A full set of 10 steel rollers on sealed bearings is one price.

Kuna's housing stock runs newer than the wider area - median build year here lands around 2007, a few years past the broader area's 2003 median - so most doors we open are still on their original builder-grade rollers. Those were never top-tier to start.
If the track has pitted along with the rollers, that's a second line item, not folded into the roller price. We quote it on-site once we've got the door open and the track in hand, not over the phone from a photo.
Watch-outs
Builder-grade steel rollers without sealed bearings are the standard part spec'd into tract construction, and Kuna's 2000s-era homes got them like everywhere else of that vintage. They work fine for a decade, then they start grinding, especially once a little rust gets into the bearing. Nylon rollers from that same era crack at the wheel rim rather than the bearing - you'll hear a clack on the way up before you see the split. Left alone, a cracked or seized roller rides crooked in the track, chews the track flange, and eventually binds the door hard enough to strain the opener's gears. By the time the opener's struggling, you're not buying rollers anymore, you're buying a track section too.
DIY or pro
Swapping rollers on an unloaded section of track, with the door down and the opener disconnected, is within reach for someone comfortable with a wrench and a ladder. The bottom rollers near the cables are a different matter - those are under spring tension even with the door down, and a roller bracket that lets go while you're working it can take a finger with it. If your garage is a double door on torsion springs, which is most of what went up in this area's 2000s building wave, we'd rather you call for that section than find out the hard way what tension does to a loose bracket.
Local causes
Winters here fall into the severe end of the cold band, and that matters more for rollers than people expect. Steel rollers without sealed bearings lose their lubrication grip in hard cold, and a roller that's already a little worn will flat-spot overnight if the door sits still through a cold snap. Nylon rollers crack faster in cold too - the plastic gets brittle right when the door's being worked the most, early mornings in winter. With Kuna's household income running higher than the area median, at $93,545 against a broader $75,270, we see more owners here choosing to replace the whole roller set with sealed nylon at once rather than patching single rollers as they fail one at a time. Both are legitimate calls; the full-set approach just means fewer return trips.
The repair
We disconnect the opener, release spring tension safely, and walk the track section by section pulling the old rollers as we go. If the track's still straight and just worn at the pitting points, we leave it. If it's bent or gouged from a seized roller riding wrong, we replace that section rather than try to hammer it straight - a straightened track rarely tracks true again, and it's not worth coming back out for. One thing we won't do: replace rollers and ignore a cracked cable or a spring that's clearly near the end of its cycle count. If we see it, we'll tell you, because a new roller set on a failing spring just means two calls instead of one.
Booking
We run this job out of Meridian, about 6 miles from Kuna, so we're not working off a local branch here - the truck comes loaded with roller stock for both steel and nylon before it leaves. Call to get on the schedule and tell us whether the door's sticking, grinding, or has visibly cracked rollers; that helps us bring the right parts the first trip. See our Kuna area page for what else we cover out this way, and the Meridian roller replacement page if you want the full rundown on the service itself.
Questions
Most Kuna garages date to around 2007, which sounds recent, but builder-grade rollers are rated for roughly a decade of daily cycles. If your door's original, you're right in the window where steel rollers start pitting and nylon ones start cracking at the rim. It's not a sign of a bad door, just the standard part reaching the end of its life.
If the door's original to a 2000s build and one roller's failed, the rest are usually close behind. Many owners here replace the full set at once rather than coming back for each roller as it fails - partly a cost-over-time call, partly that cold winters here stress worn rollers faster than milder climates do.
Since we're coming from Meridian, about 6 miles out, we load standard steel and nylon roller stock before leaving. If your track section is bent badly enough to need replacing, that part sometimes isn't on the truck and we'll quote the return trip on-site.
